Benevento signing Bacary Sagna admits he fancied staying in England this season.

Sagna, released by Manchester City in June, has revealed in L'Equipe that he was in close contact to both West Ham and Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window.

He said: "I had been in contact with West Ham and Crystal Palace since March 2017.

"In my mind, I wanted to go home to London, good for the family side.

"Overnight, they cut off the contacts, without explanation."
