Former Racing Ferrol and Poli Ejido goalkeeper Jose Bello Amigo believes Barcelona will hold onto top spot in the Spanish Liga and take out the title this season.

Bello Amigo was of firm belief that Barcelona’s elimination from the Champions League will give them greater motivation to push on and take out the championship.

The 31-year old also gave his thoughts on Spain’s national team and which players will be going to the World Cup, particularly the raging debate about which goalkeepers will be used by Vicente del Bosque.

“Barcelona's elimination from the Champions League will only motivate them more to win the league,” Bello Amigo revealed to “I feel that the only obstacle that can deprive them of this will be Sevilla. Sevilla play Barcelona on May 8th and with the obligation of qualifying for the Champions League, Sevilla will surely create a lot of difficulties for Barcelona.
“Madrid's most challenging match will come next weekend against Mallorca following this week's clash with Athletic Bilbao. Mallorca have always proven to be a tough expedition for Madrid and especially considering the outstanding season they are having. I believe that Barca could proclaim themselves Champions next weekend if Mallorca overcome Madrid.
“(It) depends on Madrid’s result away against Mallorca and Barcelona’s big fixture against Sevilla on the 8th. Those 2 matches will determine who takes out the Title. If Mallorca, which have always proven to be poison for Madrid, win on the weekend then it's all over....”

In regards to which gloveman del Bosque will take to South Africa, Bello Amigo has no doubt that Iker Casillas will be the number one.

“Both are extraordinary keepers that started their careers very young and have demonstrated immense talent and mental strength to remain number 1 in their respective clubs for so many years,” he said in response to which of Casillas and Victor Valdes would take the gloves for Spain.

“Iker was nominated best keeper in the world last season and Victor Valdes is definitely amongst the top 5 keepers for achievements and current performances.
“Iker is the indisputable Spanish number 1 and will continue to be so unless injury interrupts his progression. Iker is the captain and Spanish Icon that inspires many and will soon overcome (Andoni) Zubizaretta's (most caps) record.

“On form and experience many believe Victor Valdes should go but there is a lot of speculation as to the reasons why he has never received the call. Many say it's his personality and that currently Iker, Pepe Reina and Diego Lopez have an excellent relationship and that helps to maintain a harmonious training environment.
“Taking this into consideration I think that del Bosque will keep Diego Lopez as the 3rd keeper and deny Victor the opportunity of travelling to South Africa. There has been a lot of debate regarding this topic and I'm sure it will continue.”

And in regards to any surprise selections, 22-year old Barcelona winger Pedro has been noted as one to watch by Bello Amigo.

“The nucleus of the squad will remain the same although I definitely feel that del Bosque will include some surprises,” he added. “One could be Pedro from Barcelona. Judging by previous selections and his latest interviews there will be some very disappointed players come selection time.”
