Manchester City's Craig Bellamy scored on debut in the club's 2-1 win over Newcastle at home.

It was a much needed victory for City but puts more pressure on the Magpies as they remain in the relegation zone.

Shaun Wright-Phillips opened the scoring in the 17th minute after Brazilian ace Robinho played him through but the game dropped after that and chances were hard to come by.

Enter Welshman Bellamy who received a pass from Pablo Zabaleta, turned on the edge of the area and slotted nicely past Steve Harper.

Three minutes later, youngster David Edgar stole the ball from Wayne Bridge and set it up for an Andy Carroll tap in but it wasn't enough for Joe Kinnear's men.
