Beijing’s Griffiths excited about potential partnership with Chelsea’s Anelka
Beijing Guoan striker Joel Griffiths is looking forward to a possible on-field partnership with Chelsea’s Nicolas Anelka.
The Frenchman this week signed the most lucrative deal in Chinese football history with Shanghai Shenhua – the club with whom Griffiths has held talks recently.
The Australian has turned down a new deal from Beijing and could be on the move to Shanghai to pair up with Anelka in 2012 when he makes the move from Stamford Bridge.
“It’s no secret I have been in discussions with them, along with a couple of other Super League clubs, and I am probably leaning that way.
"Playing with Anelka would be great. But we will have to see what happens."“When a club signs somebody of the stature of Nicolas Anelka it shows its intent and how serious it is about success and that’s obviously attractive to any footballer,” Griffiths told The World Game.
