Beijing Guoan and Griffiths brothers cause more disappointment for Newcastle

Beijing Guoan have got their Asian Champions League off to a great start with a 2-0 win over A-League club Newcastle Jets. It was a showdown between the three Griffiths brothers; Ryan and Joel for Beijing and Adam for Newcastle, but it was the duo who came out on top.

Ryan opened up the scoring early on a freezing night in Beijing and Joel set up substitute Du Wenhui to round out the match in the closing stages.

The Jets new look defence appeared to be shaky whilst their attack, led by former Central Coast Mariners striker Sasho Petrovski could not mount any successful attacks.

It was a great result for the Chinese club and another disappointing result for the A-League wooden spooners.
