Aziz Behich says he keen to push into the first team at Bursaspor so he can test himself against top quality players.
The 22-year old Australian left-back arrived at the Turkish club from Melbourne Heart in January and despite only making two appearances thus far, is prepared to bide his time in order to become a consistent contributor.
One of Behich's appearances was against Fenerbahce, where he got to see firsthand the qualities of former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt, ex-Reds and Chelsea midfielder Raul Meireles and Brazilian midfielder Cristian Baroni and he admits he wants more of that type of action.
"I have time on my side and I have to be patient and learn as much as I can and hopefully make a strong run at the first team next season," Behich told SBS.
"If was always going to be a learning curve here, getting used to the pace of the game, the culture, the league and getting to know my teammates.
"It's a step up from the A-League for sure. It's tougher and quicker and the quality of players is outstanding. I am also at a club pushing for the Champions League and the competition for places is hot.
"When I played against Fenerbahce (a 4-1 loss in March) I was up against the likes of Raul Meireles, Dirk Kuyt and Cristian Baroni - world class players."
