Begovic: Lack of Euro football can boost Chelsea title push

Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic says they can take advantage of not being in Europe next season.

The one positive aspect of finishing tenth is that Chelsea will be able to commit all their energies to domestic matters in the way that clearly benefited Leicester as they completed their run to the Premier League title.

“Obviously the main goal is to make sure we are in European competition as soon as possible, especially the Champions League, and challenge for trophies again," said Begovic to the London Evening Standard.

“We will turn the free weeks into as much of an advantage of as we can. In a normal week, we will get four or five days of training instead of one or two days. We will have enough time to work and make sure we get things right. We can prepare for matches a little bit more intensely than other teams.

“Leicester used the fewest amount of players and no European involvement helped them but a team like ours want to be involved in four competitions. It could be a positive and once the season starts, we will forget we didn't qualify and just concentrate on getting back in there. Extra time on the training pitch will help us to grasp the manager's new ideas sooner rather than later."
