LA Galaxy star David Beckham is upset for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney over his England ban.

Beckham has sympathy for Rooney, who will be suspended for all of England's three group games at the European Championships.

He told The Sun: "I feel for Wayne. I have done similar things. I have done it once or twice. It would be unfortunate yet Wayne is such a great talent and I believe he should be taken.

"He will miss three games and hopefully it will be two if we win an appeal. If we do progress, we'll need Wayne Rooney in that team."
