Fulham defender Philippe Senderos has had surgery on his ruptured achilles tendon at the same specialist clinic in Finland that treated David Beckham.

The former Arsenal and Everton centre-half only moved to Fulham this summer.

Senderos's dad, Julien, said: "He flew to Finland with Fulham's physio and had an operation on Wednesday evening. He had been afraid beforehand, but he rang me once it was over, and all has gone well."
