LA Galaxy star David Beckham has confirmed his beard is not a play-off ritual, rather that he is too lazy to shave it off.

The England international's facial hair has attracted much media attention for reasons unknown but the answer to why he has kept his hirsute growth is quite simple - he can't be bothered shaving it off.

"Halloween's coming up and I was thinking of Wolverine from X-Men," Beckham quipped.

"It's not some play-off ritual. I'm just lazy and can't be bothered to shave. And everybody keeps telling me to cut it and I'm stubborn."
