Beckham remaining positive about England's World Cup bid

Despite some negative press in recent times, David Beckham is remaining positive about England's World Cup bid. The former Manchester United star who is soon to join AC Milan has become the face of England's bid for the 2018 tournament and is currently in South Africa promoting the Football Association's campaign.

Lately, the England bid has hit some snags with negative events revolving around bid leaders which ended with Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards resigning from his position on the board.

But Beckham is confident that England is the best place for a World Cup and with some hard work, their goal can be achieved.

"There has been some negative stuff said about the bid but you can be sure people are working hard to get this for the country," Beckham said.

"We can win the campaign with hard work. Nothing in life is easy, you have to work for special things to be given to you.

"England is one of the few countries with its stadia and its infrastructure that could host a World Cup almost immediately, next week.

"Football is in our culture, in our DNA, it's in us from the moment we are brought into this world, from when we are born and that's something we will always have."
