David Beckham stole the show in Auckland on Thursday night where his $9000 winning bid went to Kids Can celebrity auction. Beckham beat off frenzied interest for a print of the 44th President of the USA.
Then he floored Auckland's glitterati and world soccer superstars Edgar Davids, Mark Bosnich and Christian Karembeu by donating the print back to be re-auctioned where it fetched another $9000.
Beckham is known the world over for his stance on anything to do with children highlighted by his role as UNICEF ambassador.
Kids Can Charity has fed and dressed over 20,000 of New Zealand's underprivileged children in the last two years and aims to double their operation in 2009.
