Beckham no regrets in turning down England

David Beckham is relaxed over his decision to put club before country this weekend. The midfielder has opted out of England's friendly with Brazil on Saturday to help LA Galaxy in their Western Conference final with Houston Dynamo.

Beckham insists there is no issue with Capello over his decision to put club commitments before England's.

"The England set-up know we are in the play-offs they expected that," said Beckham.

"It is not an issue. They have sent their best wishes for the game."

"My number one priority is being in every squad possible," added Beckham. "At the end of the day I am on 115 [caps] and if I reach different goals then great but it is not the most important thing for me.

"I am not counting down each game. Of course I would love to be up there with Peter Shilton, but at the end of the day the most important thing is the team and always has been.

"It is not important how many caps I get it is important how far England go in the World Cup.

"I am happy with where I am with England and I am happy we are in play-offs.

"I can play football, enjoy my football and I love being in the England team.

"Everybody knows how proud I am of being in as many games I have played in, but you can't sit up and worry about these things you have just got to do your best and perform well."
