Beckham key to Livorno move for Seattle Sounders star Ljungberg

Los Angeles Galaxy star David Beckham has played a role in Livorno's move for Seattle Sounders ace Freddie Ljungberg. Livorno president Aldo Spinelli has confirmed they're keen to bring the former Arsenal star back to Europe.

"Ljungberg is a negotiation we are looking at," announced Spinelli. "We have already asked Beckham about him so that we can understand what condition Ljungberg was in during the last American season, which ended about a month ago.

"Apparently Ljungberg has continued training, but first we need to see what condition he'll be in when he arrives, as we don't have four and a half months of time to spare.

"Otherwise we'll pick up an Italian who is already prepared and on the market."

Ljungberg currently plays for the Seattle Sounders and faced off with Beckham's LA Galaxy in the MLS.

"I heard of Livorno's interest for Ljungberg and other Italian clubs, some important, have asked about the player," agent Claes Elefalk told Calciomercato.it.

"Beckham's excellent performances for Milan mean many sides want to repeat the experiment with Freddie.

"He has another year of his contract with the Seattle Sounders, so this would be purely a loan deal and there are offers on the table from some top clubs.

"I cannot name names, but you can imagine who would be interested in a player with Ljungberg's CV, who played an entire season without injuries and became the most popular player in MLS."
