England can field an ENTIRE TEAM of players who were either born in East London or who began their careers at West Ham (or play for them now).

England captain John Terry may play for Chelsea but he was born in Barking, was brought up on the same estate as Bobby Moore, and spent four years at West Ham from the age of 10.

Then there's Ashley and Ledley King - both born within the sound of Bow Bells - and a whole host of West Ham Academy boys like Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick.

Becks said: "It's obviously great to have so many East End lads in the squad.

"I suppose it doesn't matter where you are from when you are playing for England because you are all one team but, as an East End lad myself, to see so many East End boys out there just makes me proud.

"I don't know what it is about the East End that produces so many great players. To be honest there are many areas around the country that produce great talents - but we seem to be very good at it.

"I think the secret is that in the East End we're hungry. We always have been and always will be. Hopefully we'll continue bringing players through into the Premier League and into the England team as well."
