LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham is willing to cover his own insurance costs to get his move to Tottenham.
The Daily Mail says Beckham had a series of medical and fitness tests at Spurs Lodge and is desperate to play for Harry Redknapp's team for the short period before the MLS season starts in March.
England's most-capped outfield player has agreed to take a significant cut to his basic wage and does not propose to demand any image rights payments from Tottenham.
He will also cover his insurance costs to smooth the way for a short-term deal because he knows Galaxy are sensitive after he ruptured an achilles tendon playing on loan for AC Milan last March.
All this, however, may not be enough to secure an emotional return to English football. The major stumbling block appears to be the date set for Beckham's return to the US before the first game of the MLS season on March 15.
Galaxy want him to report on February 10 for pre-season training and warm-up games, whereas Spurs were hoping to keep him into early March, claiming that by performing in the Barclays Premier League he will be ready to hit the ground running in the US season.
