LA Galaxy returned to form with a 3-1 home win over Portland Timbers on the weekend.
The reigning champions found themselves at the bottom of the Western Conference table prior to the weekend, with just one win and three losses, but were able to move out of that position by scoring two late goals at The Home Depot Center.
Kris Boyd gave the Timbers the lead when he slotted home from 20 yards in the 23rd minute before Galaxy star Landon Donovan hammered home Robbie Keane's cutback from by the byline on the stroke of half-time.
It appeared as though it was headed for a draw until Juninho popped up for the Galaxy in the 83rd minute to fire home on the turn from well outside the area before David Beckham wrapped it up with a sublime finish into the top corner from 25 yards.
The win was a much-needed one for LA and both Beckham and head coach Bruce Arena were thrilled with the improvement the team showed after three straight defeats.
"It's a big one obviously because of the run that we've been on and the way we've been playing," Beckham said.
"Overall, our performance was a 100 percent better than it's been all season. We played as a team, we attacked and defended as a team and we deserved to win."
Arena added: "Inside the team, they probably know that what they did inside the group as a team tonight was better than the past and that's what we build on. At the end of the day, you have to be a good team and we haven't been a good team in the early going. Tonight, we were a good team."
