Beckham absence hurts us - LA Galaxy's Donovan

LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan admits that the team lacks creativity whenever David Beckham is not on the pitch.

The English veteran missed the weekend's 1-0 loss at Sporting Kansas City due to injury and Donovan indicated that there was a bit of a hole in midfield without the former Manchester United and Real Madrid ace.

"When he isn't in the lineup that will hurt our ability to create chances. But that was only part of the reason we were lacking offensively," Donovan said.

The defeat left the reigning champions languishing at the bottom of the Western Conference table with just one win from four matches whilst SKC are at the other end of the scale with five victories from five.

Donovan praised the Kansas City club who he believes have come a very long way in the last ten or so seasons.

"They're a great team, whether they're playing at home or away. The atmosphere is great," he added.

"MLS has come a long way, certainly since I was here for the first time in 2001, and this is a prime example of that. They should be very proud of it."
