Beausejour expects Wigan to retain Premiership status

Jean Beausejour is confident Wigan can stay up this season.

The Chilean winger signed for Roberto Martinez's side from Championship outfit Birmingham in the January transfer window.

"I feel happy since arriving at Wigan and I'm very confident about the rest of the season," the 27 year old told the Wigan Evening Post.

"The feeling around the club is good, very positive, and I firmly believe the future of the club is bright.

"And if we can start Saturday's game at Bolton the same way we finished the Everton game, I think we have a big chance of getting a win - which would move us closer to safety."

Beausejour is also keen for his new team-mates to focus on the next game rather than the fact they are bottom of the league.

"For me, for us, it's very important not to look too much at the league table, and worry about it," he added.

"The only thing that matters is the next game, it's always the most important one."

I think this guy was sacked rather then simply resigning as reported
