In one of the more bizarre occurrences this season, Australian defender Michael Beauchamp was incorrectly sent off against Celtic last week. Beauchamp was playing for Danish club Aalborg against Celtic in their Champions League group tie last Wednesday when he was mistakenly red carded and sent to the dressing room when he in fact wasn't even in the piece of play that brought about the expulsion. The 27-year old was set to miss Aalborg's next Champions League match against Manchester United on 30th September but the red card he received has been cancelled and he is now available to play. Fellow defender Michael Jakobsen was identified as the man who committed the foul and has been handed the one-match ban that was originally given to Beauchamp. Aalborg was back in action in the Danish league on the weekend but went down 3-0 to FC Copenhagen, with Beauchamp unfortunately knocking in an own goal.
