Beauchamp and McDonald in Champions League action overnight

Aussies featuring in Europe had to endure losses in UEFA Champions League group matches last night. Michael Beauchamp who had wrongly been sent off two weeks ago against Celtic was in the middle of a barrage of rampant Manchester United forwards including Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Cristiano Ronaldo as Aalborg went down 3-0 to the current Champions League holders. Beauchamp made way in the 38th minute as the Aalborg boss tried to reshuffle his troops but it was to no avail and Aalborg now find themselves on the bottom of the Group E table after two matches. In the other Group E match, Celtic travelled to eastern Spain to take on Villareal but came away with nothing as the Spaniards held on for victory. Socceroos striker Scott McDonald was subbed on in the 73rd minute as Celtic boss Gordon Strachan looked to equalise but it ended 1-0 and left Celtic with just one point and only goal difference places them above Aalborg. Both players will be looking to league matches this weekend to experience some better fortune as Celtic take on Hamilton at home in the Scottish Premier League and Aalborg meet AC Horsens at the Aalborg Stadion.
