Beattie: Robson key to Sheffield Utd move

Former Everton striker James Beattie admits he chose to join Sheffield United because of the presence of Bryan Robson.

Beattie becomes the second Everton player this summer to make the move to Bramall Lane, following Gary Naysmith who arrived shortly after Phil Jagielka moved in the opposite direction.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the former Southampton and Blackburn forward said: "The manager is obviously a legend in the game and knew exactly what I was thinking and going through but he outlined the plans he has for the club and his ambitions and I wanted to be part of it.

"We have a hard season ahead of us and we are hoping to get Sheffield United back into the Premier League where we belong."
