Liverpool academy chief Frank McParland has revealed the glowing praise their youngsters received from former Reds star Peter Beardsley.
Beardo is now coach of Newcastle United reserves and heavily involved with their youth setup.
McParland told liverpoolfc.tv: "We were really pleased because they were on a long unbeaten run themselves and after the match Peter Beardsley came over to me and said that both our U18s and U16s - who won their game 5-1 - had some fantastic players. That was really nice to hear, particularly from a man who reached the top of his profession with Liverpool and England.
"I think the fact we have some bright prospects was further illustrated when I found out a people carrier was waiting to take four of our players away with England's U17 squad. That's another great achievement and we also had another three on standby. "
