Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni has defended his performances for Italy in this summer's European Championships.

"I don't think I played particularly badly," he told German newspaper Bild am Sonntag.

"Against Romania I had a perfectly valid goal disallowed and I earned the penalty that put us 1-0 up over France.

"I would have liked to play the Final against Germany, but at the end of the day Spain fully deserved to win the trophy."
