Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has jumped to the defence of Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri.

Ribery says Nasri deserves a recall to the France squad.

"Samir Nasri is a great player, he will return to the France team. He needs to regain some confidence. I know him from Marseille, he was like my little brother," said Ribery.

"I spoke with him, I called him, he wants to be in the France team. I know he's suffered injuries at Manchester City, he wants to play, to be at the top like he was at Arsenal.

"I was in his situation. At one point, I no longer thought about football, I thought of my problems. This is what happened at the Euros."
