New Bayern Munich signing Javi Martinez was eager to avoid any confrontation with Athletic Bilbao officials when clearing out his locker this week.

El Correo says Martinez said his goodbyes to Bilbao teammates on Saturday, but decided to keep a low profile when it came to collecting his belongings at the club's training centre.

Martinez, it is reported, actually visited the centre at 2am in the morning, hopping a fence to get inside the facility so to clearout his locker.

Alerted to the story, Martinez tweeted last night: "It is amazing that there are people who believe that this story is true ..."
