Bayern Munich have set their asking price for Manchester United target Jerome Boateng.
The Manchester Evening News says United have been told they can have Boateng for around £50m.
Jose Mourinho has placed the Bayern Munich defender on an eight-man shortlist of centre back targets this summer.
United are continuing negotiations with Tottenham over Toby Alderweireld- but Mourinho is considering a number of cheaper alternatives.
Boateng fits into that bracket, with Bayern willing to listen to offers as low as £43m after telling the German international he is free to go. Mourinho is a big admirer of the former Manchester City player - and is determined to add world class quality in the heart of defence.
