Bayern Munich are set to up their bid for FC Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

The German international is a strong target for likely England champions Manchester United as they tussle with the German Bundesliga giants for the services of the 25-year old.

Reports suggest that Bayern will offer Schalke €21million (£18.3m) for Neuer after their initial deal, which was around €3m, was not quite enough.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rumenigge has indicated that the club will certainly sign a new goalkeeper but they must battle with Sir Alex Ferguson's United if they want to get their man.
