Bayern Munich’s van Bommel extends contract

Bayern Munich captain Mark van Bommel has extended his contract at the club for a further year.

The 32-year old Dutchman will remain with Bayern until the end of 2011 as he strives to achieve some goals with the club.

“It was my wish to extend it by a year," the ex-Barcelona defensive midfielder said in a statement.

"I want to be successful with the team and win titles. This is our goal for this year and the next.”
