Bayern Munich star Philipp Lahm could not hide his disappointment after Germany were beaten 1-0 by Spain in the semi-finals of the World Cup.
The German national team captain admits he was gutted after the final whistle and feels it was a missed opportunity for his team to grab a spot in the final.
"You're always gutted when you lose a semi-final. We're very, very disappointed. We set our sights high, but it's not worked out for us," he said.
"We didn't play well, especially in the first half, and we lacked the courage of our convictions going forward. Spain are an exceptional team, but you only get a shot at the World Cup semi-finals once every four years."
