Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso has urged former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard not to hastily jump into management.
Gerrard has officially ended his illustrious playing career and will now take the opportunity to spend some time with his family before embarking on a career in coaching.
"When the time comes, he will be ready but now he has the TV and he is ready for a break," said Alonso, after helping Bayern Munich to a 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen at The Allianz Arena.
"He asked about things. We spoke about his plans. I am sure he would never have played for another English team. He had a chance to try another club but he was really committed never made the call and that makes his career all the more special, to devote himself to one club.
"That makes it all the more special. Everything happens for a reason. The farewell he had when he left Liverpool and the farewell he is having now is fully deserved."
