Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara admits a move to Manchester United last season was close.

Speaking to the Guardian, former Barcelona midfielder Thiago admitted that he almost became a Red Devil before Bayern swooped for his signature.

He said: "Yes [there was a possibility], but the real possibility was Bayern.

"[Because of Pep Guardiola?] Yes, probably, but I can't change the past and I prefer to focus on now. You learn something new every day with Pep, a magnificent coach who transmits real passion."
