Bayern Munich defender Danny van Buyten has no regrets missing out on a permanent move to Manchester City.

He played six times for City on loan from Marseille in 2004.

"I am very happy at Bayern. I am living probably the best moment in my career here," he said.

"City have changed since I left - they want to win titles. There are no players there from my time. It's a new project with ambition. The atmosphere in the stadium will be hot but, for Bayern, there is nothing to fear.

"City have one of the best forward lines in the world, in Mario Balotelli and Sergio Aguero. But Bayern desires victory."
