Bayern Munich defender Dante says English football's Champions League flop has shocked him.

Bayern will be defending a 3-1 lead at the Allianz Arena in their Champions League second-leg clash with Arsenal.

Dante told the Daily Star Sunday: "Of course, I am very surprised. The Premier League is one of the best championships in ­European football.

"So for them to be without a team in the Champions League after this round is not normal at all.

"But you need to give a lot of credit to Real Madrid for this. That was a great comeback from them to beat United.

"And while I hope and believe Bayern will go through against Arsenal, it will not be easy for us. It's not over yet because Arsenal still have a great team."
