Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has put in a personal phone call to Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.

BILD says Boateng called Mourinho on Tuesday, having faced United in Sunday's friendly win.

And the Germany international called Mourinho to inform him he would not be moving to Old Trafford before tomorrow's transfer deadline.

Boateng's minders had held talks with United about a contract, but after speaking with new Bayern coach Niko Kovac, he has decided to stay.

The defender was also a target for PSG, but assured Mourinho he would not be leaving Bayern this month.
