Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia has paid tribute to former club AS Roma.

Benatia left Roma in the summer.

"It's hard to choose what my favourite moment in my career was," Benatia said in a Twitter Q&A.

"Perhaps signing my first contract with Roma, followed by the first goal I scored for Bayern.

"I model myself on Paolo Maldini, he was phenomenal at the age of 17 and he always played at an incredibly high level. He was a true champion."
