Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber is leaving this summer, it has been confirmed.
Badstuber was strongly linked with a move to Manchester City in January as Pep Guardiola hunted for cover in defence. But the centre-back snubbed interest from the Etihad and ended up joining Schalke on loan.
Now Bayern have announced they will part ways with the 28-year-old, with CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge saying: “It was clear from the outset that after his loan with Schalke, Holger Badstuber is likely to look for a new experience abroad.
“FC Bayern Munchen wishes Holger all the best and would like to thank him for his exemplary commitment during his almost 15 years at Sabener Strasse."
