Real Madrid midfielder Mahamadou Diarra is wanted by Bayern Munich.

Bayern coach Louis van Gaal wants to take the Mali international to Germany in the summer.

Sport says Van Gaal is aware Diarra is available from Real after failing to win over the confidence of coach Manuel Pellegrini since his return from long-term injury.

Van Gaal has asked Bayern's board to move for the midfielder, confident Diarra can return to the form he enjoyed at Lyon before making the switch to Real.
