Bayern Munich to bid for Chelsea defender Alex

Chelsea defender Alex is a major summer target for Bayern Munich.

The Mirror says Alex is unhappy after losing his first team place and that has alerted the German giants who are preparing a summer move.

Brazilian Alex signed a four-year contract in October and will start against Cardiff City in today’s FA Cup fifth round tie because troubled Chelsea captain John Terry has flown to Dubai to save his marriage.

But Alex, 27, has found himself behind Terry and veteran defender Ricardo Carvalho who has is also attracting interest from Atletico Madrid.

Alex saw his start to the season disrupted by a hernia problem and has only started three games since returning and now Bayern are watching developments closely.

20 mill + alex for ribery, then we potentially have a deal...if not, forget it...

Alex is a tremendous defender and I personally think, given his age, he is going to be the best central defender in the world. He is NOT to be sold by chelsea and I can see him replacing Ricardo Carvaliho within the next season. Ricky is great but gives away too many silly free kicks and penalties / potential penalties. He is a great defender but does not have the presence in the air, or the muscular ability of Alex. If we let him go, we are mugs.

20 mill if he goes
