Bayern Munich were prepared to pay the buyout clause for Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, it has been revealed. Agent François Gallardo revealed on Punto Pelota that Bayern and adidas had come together to offer €250 million for Messi in the summer.
Gallardo says three adidas sponsored teams were in talks about going for Messi in the close season - with Bayern making the concrete bid.
"The sports brand put in €125 million, half of his clause. The other half was to be put in by the club and three were ready. One of them was Bayern and they'll probably try again next June," Gallardo sensationally revealed.
"The sports brand had three teams willing to go with them for Messi.
"Possibly the three clubs will try again next year and I, for 250 million, would sell."
