Former Germany captain Michael Ballack is getting closer to a move to Major League Soccer according to recent reports.
It appears as though his time with Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen is coming to an end with Goal.com reporting that there are a host of MLS clubs keen on his services.
MLS executive vice-president Todd Durbin reportedly listed five franchises showing interest in the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich midfielder with a source close to the potential move saying it is now a matter of who wants him the most.
New York Red Bulls (home of Thierry Henry), Chicago Fire, Seattle Sounders, Philadelphia Union and expansion franchise Montreal Impact are believed to be the clubs in question.
"Ballack would be interested in playing for any of those teams, and now it all comes down to who can afford him," the source said.
"Michael has made 160 million Euros in his career. It's not all about money. He loves America and wants to be a guy that young players can look up to and help a team win."
