German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen have been in contact with Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov his management company has confirmed.
The Bulgarian ace, who netted a hat-trick in the 5-0 win over Wigan Athletic yesterday, continues to be linked with winter departure and now one of his former clubs has joined the queue according to Ivan Dobrinov who is a member of the group that represents the 30-year old.
"The player has never forgotten Leverkusen, the club is still very dear to him. Furthermore, he has a good relationship with the leadership at Bayer.""It's more than a rumour. Leverkusen have it on their minds to get Berbatov. There is contact, but nothing concrete yet. It all depends on United's plans," he told Bild.
Despite this information from Dobrinov, Leverkusen chief Wolfgang Holzhauser has indicated that a deal to bring Berbatov back is highly unlikely.
"But there is certainly nothing concrete at the moment. I also read that Manchester United would like to extend his contract.""I would even say that the contact is friendly," he said.
