Bayer Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt congratulated Roma after their stunning 3-2 Champions League win.
Roma were 2-0 up, before being pegged back to 2-2.
“Congratulations to Roma," said Schmidt.
“It was an incredible game, much like the last time. The start really destabilised us and we didn't expect to concede so early, but their counter-attack worked really well.
“We changed strategy after the break and with our pressing we were able to get the result back on level terms.
“We did not expect the penalty, but must accept the result, as this is football. They surprised us at the start, we got the game back in hand and then Roma did well to surpass us again.
“Despite the final result, we will not give up and will do everything to qualify."
