Former Tottenham assistant boss Gus Poyet is favourite for the top job at Leeds United.
The Sun says chairman Ken Bates is set to name Poyet or Aidy Boothroyd as Gary McAllister's replacement before the home clash with League One leaders Leicester on Boxing Day.
Former Chelsea midfielder Poyet was close to Bates when Old Grey Beard was Stamford Bridge supremo, then became popular with Leeds fans during his time there as No 2 to Dennis Wise.
Poyet left Elland Road last season to join Tottenham as assistant to Juande Ramos.
But the Uruguayan left White Hart Lane in October following Ramos' sacking.
Significantly, Poyet has maintained his links with Leeds, and was in the crowd to watch United's dismal 3-1 defeat at high-flying MK Dons on Saturday.
