Matthew Bates credits coach Steve Agnew for his first goal for Middlesbrough in their victory over Hull City.
The midfielder said: "Aggers, our first-team coach Steve Agnew, shouted for me to go up for the corner so I did as I was told.
"It was a great ball from Tony (McMahon) - I thought Jeremie Aliadiere would get a flick but he didn't and I just stuck my left foot out and it went in.
"I last scored playing for the youth team in 2005, so we have got a long wait for the next one!"
