BATE Borisov fullback Maksim Bordachev is interesting Sunderland.
The Evening Chronicle says Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio is seeking a new left-back signing.
Bordachev is a 26-year-old Belarus international with 23 caps.
He has been with BATE since 2009 and - unlike the five players Sunderland have already signed - is not out of contract this summer.
