Joey Barton has posted on Twitter that Marseille teammate Loic Remy is set to join QPR.

The 26-year old strikers reported £8.3million move to Newcastle United was believed to be all sorted but Barton has put some doubt in that by Tweeting that his parent club the R's had won the race.

"Watching Patriots. Just heard from a magician that Loic Remy has signed for QPR. Not sure what happened at Newcastle probably Llambas again," Barton wrote in regards to Magpies managing director Derek Llambias.

"Gift of the gab from Harry Redknapp perhaps? Thought it was done and dusted to Newcastle. Something must of gone amiss. Great news 4 #QPR.

"Am not sure whether am being wound up or i'm winding you up! Better than Sky sports news coverage anyway..."
