Joey Barton made a successful playing return with Newcastle United reserves yesterday.
The midfielder completed 75 minutes of action for Newcastle United's reserve team against Hartlepool United.
The Scouser was pleased to get another run out under his belt for the Magpies after playing 45 minutes against Hibernian last week at the club's Benton base.
Barton said after the game: "It was just good to be playing again.
"It's disappointing to lose but I'm just glad to be back.
"Hopefully this is another step closer to full fitness and first team football, because that's what any footballer wants."
