Joey Barton isn't ready to commit to a new deal with Newcastle United just yet.
The Sun says Barton has agreed in principle to a new five-year contract with a 20 per cent pay cut.
But the Scouser is happy to keep his options open until the end of the season, as his brilliant form for Alan Pardew's men has alerted a host of Premier League rivals.
A source close to midfielder Barton said: "Joey knows that after agreeing to a pay cut he has done the club a favour.
"He's happy at Newcastle but feels there is no rush to sign on the dotted line."
