Manchester City veteran Gareth Barry must accept a massive pay-cut to sign permanently with Everton.
The Mail on Sunday says Barry has been a hit at Everton during a year-long loan from Manchester City but there are financial factors that may keep him from staying beyond the summer.
City have subsidised Barry's £100,000-a-week wages while he plays for Everton but his contract is due to run out in June and the Merseysiders are unwilling to offer more than £50,000 a week in any new deal.
Barry, 33, has agreed to wait until the end of the season to hold further talks with Everton while his representatives see if Tottenham or any other club can better the Goodison Park club's offer.
